Job Description

OpenTelemed is seeking dedicated and compassionate Telehealth Physicians to join our innovative telehealth services team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care through electronic communication, including real-time audio-video communication, online digital visits, and remote patient monitoring. Additionally, you will supervise a diverse team of healthcare professionals, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Delivery: Provide a wide range of telehealth services such as Evaluation & Management (E&M), online digital visits, and non-face-to-face nonphysician telephone services. This includes discussing and reviewing patients' medical history, symptoms, allergies, and current medications to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Supervision and Collaboration: Supervise nurses and other healthcare staff, ensuring they perform their duties effectively. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care and treatment plans.
  • Diagnostic and Treatment: Prescribe various diagnostic tests, analyze results, and explain them to patients. Formulate suitable treatment plans for non-threatening conditions and prescribe appropriate medications with proper dosage and administration instructions.
  • Patient Monitoring and Education: Conduct assessments and management via phone, internet, or EHR, including generating verbal and written reports. Educate patients on self-care strategies, suitable diets, and exercise regimens to improve their overall health.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Chronic Condition Management: Assist patients in managing chronic health conditions through continuous monitoring and follow-up.
  • Training and Development: Contribute to the training of telehealth practitioners across various specialties, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Holistic or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Licensure: Valid license to practice medicine, with a willingness to obtain additional state medical licenses as needed.
  • Certification: Board-certified in family or internal medicine or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience working as a telemedicine physician is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to consult with patients through virtual communication channels.
  • Disposition: Patient and compassionate disposition, with a detail-oriented approach to patient care.
