Where you will work: This position will be based out of Astound’s Arlington, MA office. The schedule for this position would be a rotating 5x8 schedule A Day in the Life of the Broadband Technician II: Residential install, service/repair, and disconnects (data, video, phone) on customer premises Ensure/record correct RF and signal levels within specifications Communication with leadership and dispatch as needed Customer education Operate company vehicle in safe and responsible manner Perform all work in a safe manner according to all company policies and state rules and regulations Operate any company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner according to all company policies and state rules and regulations Perform residential/commercial installations, changes of service and disconnects (high-speed data, video, phone) on customer premises Ensure all work is completed in accordance with all applicable company procedures/policies and in compliance with all municipal, state and federal laws and guidelines Ensure/record correct RF and Wi-Fi signal levels within specifications Perform troubleshooting tasks to identify problems and develop and implement resolutions for video, phone, high-speed data and networking devices Ability to troubleshoot all related RF problems from three active poles back to the customer premise (i.e. troubleshoot taps as in seizure screws and water damage; terminate open tap ports to prevent leakage) Responsible for the operation and use of related test equipment to include, but not limited to, a signal level meter, multimeter, leakage detection equipment and laptop Provide customer education and information on the services, equipment and products installed Promote marketing and sales efforts during each customer contact through the upsell program Maintain regular communication throughout the shift with management and dispatch Take appropriate action to expedite workflow to consistently meet customer appointments and company commitments Issue, receive, maintain and be accountable for an approved level of inventory stock and equipment Perform stand-by duties and serve in a 24/7 on call capacity as assigned Maintain an up-to-date timesheet and complete assigned training in a timely fashion Other duties as assigned What You Bring to the Table: Experience: 6 months of satisfactory metrics OR 1 years external telecommunications technician Competencies: Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ladder; Hand or Power Tools; Customer Service; Communication (verbal, written); Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs Standing and walking for extended periods of time Education and Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent We're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including: 401k retirement plan, with employer match Insurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurance Paid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organization Floating Holiday: 40 hours per year Paid Holidays: 7 days per year Paid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local laws Tuition reimbursement program Employee discount program Benefits listed above are for regular full-time positions Our Mission Statement: Take care of our customers Take care of each other Do what we say we are going to do Have fun Diverse Workforce / EEO: Astound Broadband is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and we are dedicated to cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued, respected and empowered.
