Job Description
- 13 week part-time traveler position (24 hours a week)
- Requires a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse
- BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of certification
- Need to have a working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Understanding of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
- Completion of Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintenance of certification annually
- Responsibilities include treating and educating patients about mental and medical conditions
- Providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
- Running therapeutic groups and performing psychiatric crisis intervention
- Capability to seclude and restrain patients when necessary
- Recording of patients' medical histories and symptoms
- Assisting in performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results
- Operating medical machinery and administering treatment and medications
- Helping with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
- Teaching patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
