NUTRITION PROGRAM ASSISTANT – Meals on Wheels Kitchen , Erving, MA

Part Time with benefits!

Monday – Friday, mornings, 20 hours per week

SUMMARY:

LifePath is a mission-driven, collaborative and community-focused human services agency. This is a great opportunity to join LifePath’s nutrition team as a Nutrition Program Assistant. The Nutrition Program Assistant is responsible to the Nutrition Program Director in assignments at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen or a Congregate Dining Center. Will support the program with various activities at the kitchen including; back-up to Dining Manager, food prep and clean up, some administrative tasks, and substitute driver (mileage paid for meal delivery).

This position pays $17.51 per hour and is scheduled 20 hours per week, 4 hours per morning/early afternoon, Monday-Friday. Schedule start time varies between 7 – 9 AM, depending on daily assignment. RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Re-thermalize (heat) and pack heated portions for Home Delivered Meals
  2. Check temperatures and count portions received from the Caterer
  3. Insure portion control
  4. Pack cold parts containers for Home Delivered Meals
  5. Deliver home delivery meals as requested
  6. Oversee sanitation
  7. Clean kitchen, wash all pans and utensils, mop out containers, and remove trash
  8. Requisition kitchen supplies from manager

  • Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

Mental demands:

  • Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and laws.
  • Capacity to learn complicated computer software.
  • Capacity to do mathematical calculations.
  • Capacity to produce statistical reports.
  • Capacity to deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities
  • Capacity to work well in fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

Environmental:

  • Time is split between indoor kitchen work and traveling outdoors to deliver meals to clients in their homes.
  • Must be able to tolerate odors and pollutants including but not limited to smoke, air fresheners, pet dander, personal odors, etc. from a variety of in-home conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures.
