We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Permanent Legal Assistant with a specialty in Family Law to join our high-performing legal team. The successful candidate will work directly with our attorneys to prepare for upcoming cases and will be responsible for developing and managing family law cases from beginning to end.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Legal Assistant (Family Law), you will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
1. Assisting attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
2. Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, financial affidavits, and correspondence.
3. Conducting legal research to support case preparation including case law, statutes, articles, and other relevant materials.
4. Managing case files by organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
5. Coordinating and scheduling court dates, appointments, and meetings.
6. Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, judicial administrative staff, and other relevant parties.
7. Assisting with case settlement negotiation and implementation.
8. Ensuring all court deadlines are met in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 2-7 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within the Family Law sector.
2. A degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.
3. Proficiency in legal research tools and citation guides.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and details effectively.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and legal software applications.
7. An understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
9. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a high level of initiative, and the ability to work as a team player.
