Canonical’s Product Management Team Our product managers set the vision and direction to ensure teams deliver the right products in the right markets at the right time. The team are technologists who are passionate about delivering products and solutions that help shape market demands while elevating open source software everywhere. Responsibilities Set a clear vision, prioritize work effectively and ensure high‑quality products that meet business and user needs. Push the boundaries of the technology landscape to identify and deliver products into new and existing market opportunities. Discuss strategy, plan product development, drive engagement, and promote the open source way. Oversee the entire product lifecycle from conception to delivery. Blend technical expertise, strategic thinking, analytics, project management skills and effective communication to ensure products meet user needs and business objectives. Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals; collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and sales; conduct market research, analyze trends, gather customer feedback, and conduct usability testing. Communicate product vision, status updates, and key decisions; develop go‑to‑market strategies with marketing, sales, and support teams; contribute to sales success by reviewing feedback and attending customer meetings. Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts across teams and departments. What We Are Looking For Exceptional academic results at high school and university. Understanding of Linux and the wider open source community. Knowledge of computer architecture, app development, datacenters, cloud, or devices. Passion for writing about technologies and the tech landscape. Strong work ethic, curiosity, continuous learning, and ownership. Problem‑solving and innovation mindset. Outstanding English communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to manage multiple projects while focusing on priorities. Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year (up to 2 weeks per trip). Additional Skills We Value Familiarity with verticals: Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive. Knowledge of the technology ecosystem: silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud providers, channel. Embedded and connected device ecosystems. Networking: Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, overlays, VPNs, SR‑IOV, InfiniBand.
