The Virginian by Cogir is looking for an experienced Groundskeeper to join our Plant Operations/Maintenance Team.
GENERAL SUMMARY :
The Groundskeeper is responsible for the overall grounds’ maintenance of the Campus.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES :
Essential Job Duties:
1. Assists in all operations of the Grounds Department including maintaining of all lawns, trees, gardens, shrubbery, plants and ponds.
2. Maintains all parking areas.
3. Installs and maintains exterior signs.
4. Maintains boundary fencing.
5. Able to use and maintain all associated equipment and machinery.
6. Assists residents with gardening.
7. Cleans all exterior windows and doors.
8. Removes snow and ice from roads and walks.
9. Caring for interior foliage plants.
10. Exterior trash removal.
11. Replaces exterior and parking deck lights.
12. Assists Maintenance team as needed.
13. Maintains irrigation systems.
14. Attendance is essential to this job. Must also maintain dependability and punctuality as outlined in Attendance policy.
Other Duties :
1. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
2. Attends all required in-service and training sessions.
3. Maintains workstation and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Strong horticultural background preferred. Ability to implement and initiate necessary plans to ensure proper maintenance of grounds.
2. Associates degree in Horticulture or Landscaping preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
3. Three years’ experience in grounds maintenance.
4. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English effectively, using proper speech and grammar. Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
5. Basic computer knowledge and experience.
6. Experience working with Seniors and or in a Senior Living Community.
