Job Description

Title: Event Lead

Employment: Consultant

Location: Rhodora, 45 Willoughby, June Wine Bar

About the Spaces:

With the opening of Rhodora, The Oberon Group has built a program that will send absolutely nothing to landfill. Everything that enters the space can either be recycled or composted. Decisions around staffing and our business model are guided by sustainability and respect for the people who work in the space.

The concept’s menu celebrates natural, low-intervention wine with an accompanying low-waste food menu. By featuring small-farm, natural winemakers, the Rhodora team partners with wine producers who share a similar respect for the land and environment, working against the often harmful impacts of large-scale wine manufacturing.

In addition to the space’s commitment to the environment, Rhodora is reimagining the typical restaurant hierarchy, putting forward a new staffing model where team members are cross-trained in every position. In eliminating the traditional divide between front of house and back of house, Rhodora aims to cultivate a culture of respect and empathy for each position and role.

Last year, Rhodora took over a former retail space neighboring our main dining room; a space we call “45”. This space is perfect for smaller events that can be executed during our normal service. We are getting many more event requests for 45 and need someone to manage the success and growth of this space!

June opened its doors in January 2015 as Brooklyn’s first natural wine bar, drawing inspiration from cozy restaurants and wine bars found in Paris. Our focus is selecting wines with minimal intervention that deploy biodynamic regenerative agriculture techniques in the fields. June’s menu is focused on seasonal cooking, featuring plates meant to be shared among friends. The beautiful courtyard and patio are a community favorite for wedding receptions, birthday parties, and seasonal events!
