Summary

First Baptist Preschool in Newport News is looking to hire an assistant teacher for our preschool. This position would be for the 2025-2026 school year. Our school year runs September - May. This position would begin in November (start date negotiable). This is a part time position 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday, 8:45am-12:45pm for a total of 16 hours a week. This job would be ideal for former teachers who want to keep their foot in the education world or retired teachers who miss the classroom. It would also be ideal for current students or recent graduates of teaching programs at VPCC, CNU or ODU. Duties

• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• High energy.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• An understanding of child development.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
