Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for correctly coding dental claims, in order to obtain reimbursement from insurance companies and government health care programs.
II. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Processes dental insurance claims.
2. Manages accounts receivable, posting payments to patients accounts and follow up on overdue accounts.
3. Communicates with patients and insurance companies.
4. Ensures all claims are submitted timely with a goal of zero errors.
5. Verifies insurance benefits and coverages for patients.
6. Addresses and resolves patient billing questions and complaints.
7. Notifies providers of missing documentation for claims processing.
8. Submits pre-authorization requests to insurance companies on behalf of patients and providers.
9. Performs billing procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
10. Complies with HIPPA, federal regulations, and Family Care Health Centers policies.
III. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
2. Certification in medical billing or equivalent preferred
3. Experience with dental billing software
4. Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
5. 2+ years’ experience with proven work experience as a Dental Billing Specialist or similar role.
6. Knowledge of dental terminology and insurance claim processing.
