Position Title: Comptroller (Licensed) / Senior Staff Accountant

Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated accounting professional to join our finance team. The successful candidate will either fill the role of Licensed Comptroller (if possessing the necessary licensure and extensive experience) or Senior Staff Accountant (if possessing substantial accounting experience and the potential for growth). This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy of our financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The specific duties will be assigned based on the candidate's qualifications and the needs of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting Functions (Applies to both roles):
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions.
Month-End/Year-End Close: Manage and execute the timely and accurate completion of the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with external audits by preparing necessary schedules, documents, and explanations.
Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of various federal, state, and local tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
Advanced/Leadership Responsibilities (Primarily for Licensed Comptroller):
Internal Controls: Establish, document, and enforce comprehensive internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial forecasting and variance analysis to management.
Financial Strategy: Act as a key advisor to the CFO/CEO on financial matters, capital planning, and long-term financial strategy.
Team Supervision: Oversee and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance.
Operational Responsibilities (Primarily for Senior Staff Accountant):
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage complex transactions related to A/P, A/R, and fixed assets.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and software utilization to enhance efficiency.
Special Projects: Take ownership of ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting projects as requested by senior management.
Qualifications
Required for Both Roles:
Education: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business.
Experience:
Senior Staff Accountant: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Licensed Comptroller: Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with major ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise).
Knowledge: Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP.
Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Licensed Comptroller:
Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is required .
Proven experience in managing a full accounting cycle, including financial statements preparation and internal control implementation.
Senior Staff Accountant:
CPA track or willingness to pursue a CPA or similar certification (e.g., CMA) is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a professional office environment.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
