We are looking for a Coffee Professional Apprentice to join our team! You will be responsible for repairing various vehicles and transmission systems. We are a leading Canadian coffee roasting company with a small cafe located in Mississauga, Ontario. We are seeking a talented, passionate, hard working individual to join our team.

You have a minimum of 3 years experience working in a cafe environment and are a proficient barista capable of creating and executing recipes and basic latte art. You have an interest in learning about roasting and willing to be more than a barista. You will be looking after our modest street front cafe as well as retail Shopify orders. You have a knack for operating different software and learn quickly when exposed to new systems. If this sounds like you, please reach out and send your resume. The position would for Lead / Head Barista at our Mississauga cafe/ roastery. Hours are M-F 7:30am to 2:30pm. The goals for this individual would be as follows.

Responsibilities:

• Fine tune and execute all the operational directives for the cafe
• Serve customers, drink preparation, limited baking and prep, restock retail shelves and display cases
• Set up weekly cuppings as per our Head roaster’s requirements
• Set up tastings for potential wholesale customers
• Barista training for wholesale customers
• Learn sample roasting on our 1kg Bullet roasters
• Work with our Head roaster in learning our roasting profiles and begin training (6-12 months down the road) as an apprentice roaster as we expand to add another roaster to our facility
• Learn our internal software systems and act as a back up to our Customer Service / Order Dept personnel (to execute order shipments when time allows for wholesale Unleashed and retail Shopify customers)
• Expedite shipments with various couirers
• Participate in weekly stock counts, warehouse assistance as needed occasionally

Potential additional duties may include...

• Work on expanding the food and beverage options by collaborating with a local baker (we have a convection oven and currently only offer croissants and scones that are baked off from frozen)
• Reach out to local businesses to bring in more customers
• Basic social media posts promoting the cafe

​​​​​​ Qualifications:

• minimum 3 years experience working as a barista in specialty coffee

• advanced knowledge and ability to calibrate grinders, espresso machines and establish consistent recipes for optimum extractions

• advanced milk steaming abilities with the added proficiency for basic latte art (rosetta, heart)

• advanced pour over coffee preparation

• practices the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene

• possesses a Safe Food Handler certificate

• experience cupping coffees, setting up cupping sessions as per SCA protocols

• advanced palette for providing tasting notes at the cupping table

• general knowledge of coffee varietals / regions from around the world / processing methods - washed, natural, honey, etc.

• passionate about coffee and looking for a career in coffee

• can easily commute to our location - 1020 Meyerside Dr., Mississauga
