Job Title: Part-Time Class A CDL Driver for Truss Plant
Location: Hartford, South Dakota
Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Part-Time Class A CDL Driver to join our team at Black Tie Components, a leading manufacturer in the truss industry. The driver will be responsible for transporting trusses and building materials to job sites in a safe and timely manner. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible hours and part-time work while still utilizing their driving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and drive Class A vehicles to deliver trusses and materials.
- Secure loads properly to ensure safe transport.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, plant staff, and customers.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate delivery and log records.
Requirements:
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience (preferably in the construction or building materials industry).
- Ability to handle oversized loads and ensure proper securement.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- No DUI’s or DWI’s (in the past 3 years)
- No more than 3 traffic violations (in past 3 years)
- Forklift experience - highly preferred
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including mornings and afternoons.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs for a distance of up to 20 feet.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to frequently enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle.
- Must be able to hook and unhook various commercial combinations, to manually lower and raise landing gear, to operate fifth wheel release levers, to lock and release pintle-hooks, to attach and release safety chains, to open and close cargo doors, to climb into and out of vehicles, and to fuel and check oil/coolant levels of vehicles.
