Job Description

Job Description: SPU seeks an experienced diversity expert and student success advocate with significant federal grants experience to create and provide leadership for the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Reporting directly to the provost, the CDO will design, execute, and assess diversity initiatives to foster an inclusive campus environment where students can thrive and to advance desired institutional changes. The CDO will serve as the Project Director for the University’s U.S. Department of Education Title V grant, Bienestar for All, and will lead the Steering Team to review project plans, timelines, and evaluation methods. They will establish and lead the Center for Inclusive Excellence, develop a DEIJ strategic plan, and chair the DEIJ Council with broad membership, including student leaders of diversity organizations, to promote an inclusive culture and equity-minded student success efforts. The CDO will oversee an annual campus climate survey to benchmark progress and collaborate with various campus leaders to develop inclusive hiring practices and professional development, with formal policies for DEIJ-informed searches. Salary Range: $125,000 Duties & Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies to promote institutional change, foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and integrate diversity considerations into daily operations. Lead the DEIJ Council to support initiatives that promote social justice and cultural awareness of marginalized groups. Lead inclusion, diversity, and belonging programs for faculty, staff, and students. Advise and collaborate with university leadership on targeted initiatives. Partner with Human Resources to improve recruitment, hiring, and retention practices supporting inclusion. Conduct investigations related to faculty and staff diversity and inclusion issues in consultation with HR. Monitor and report on diversity metrics for faculty, staff, and students. Stay informed on best practices locally and nationally. Maintain networks to promote diversity and inclusion efforts. Qualification Standards 5 to 10 years of experience in higher education administration. Excellent managerial and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in grant management and report writing is desirable. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Leadership skills, including decision-making and delegation. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and demonstrate a commitment to a culturally inclusive workplace. Interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational management skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, attend to details, and complete tasks. Education Relevant educational qualifications as required.
