Job Description

CBS Transfer Student Support Specialist (STDT SVC ADVISOR 2)

Job Summary

CBS Transfer Student Support Specialist

The CBS Transfer Student Support Specialist (TSSS) coordinates various aspects of AvenueB and other transfer student support programs in the College of Biological Sciences. AvenueB eliminates barriers that prevent the full participation of underrepresented populations in STEM fields, serving primarily high-potential, low-resource students and those from families where neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. CBS and AvenueB aim to prepare a new generation of promising STEM talent and leadership via a robust pipeline of transfer students to secure our nation's future in STEM.

Under general direction from and reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Success Initiatives, the TSSS contributes to programs that improve student engagement, support academic success, and aid CBS transfer students in the pursuit of completing their degree requirements. The incumbent is responsible for organizing and helping implement programs supporting the students enrolled in AvenueB, including but not limited to the second-year experience, identifying and matching students to experiential learning, monitoring student degree progress, and career readiness. The TSSS acts as a liaison to leverage existing programs and campus resources to connect CBS transfer and AvenueB students such as academic advising, academic supports like tutoring, professional development workshops, and co-curricular learning.
