Wiley College is seeking qualified applicants for Admissions Counselor (Remote/virtual OPTION) The Admissions Counselor is responsible for implementing established student recruitment plans and strategies designed to improve the quantity and quality of the College’s enrollment. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Actively recruits and admits all prospective and qualified students to Wiley College.
- Critically evaluate and analyze applicants and application materials utilizing established College admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria to make or recommend admissions decisions as appropriate.
- The Admissions Counselor will assist in recruitment and outreach work for the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management to reach the College’s enrollment goals.
- Participate in the development of an admissions and recruitment plan led by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment leadership team.
- Follow the admissions and recruitment plan established by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment leadership team.
- Ensure completion of student admissions files by creating and updating electronic and paper files, checking the status of all submitted and missing admission documents, and determining admissibility of prospective students to the College based on completed file.
- Travel extensively throughout the United States to represent and recruit qualified students to Wiley College from middle schools, high schools, and community colleges, as well as at nationally organized college fairs.
- Provide campus tours and off- and on-campus presentations to prospective students, families, teachers, and counselors discussing the history of the College, admission requirements, majors offered, potential career and research opportunities, application process and basic financial requirements; maintain follow-up communication.
- Maintain a database of assigned prospective students and communicate with them regarding their application process and other important College information.
- Meet with high school counselors and college & career advisors to discuss the benefits of attending Wiley College, current majors, economic and vocational trends, and shifts concerning future employment in the state of Louisiana and other possibilities for students.
- Correspond with prospective students, applicants, College alumni, guidance counselors and others seeking information on admissions standards, academic and non-academic programs.
- Participate in the development of communication materials to high school counselors, teachers, prospects, parents of prospects and other specialty groups as necessary.
- Participate in retention efforts as outlined by the College.
- Complete all travel arrangements for recruitment trips according to College policies.
- Respond to, process, and continually monitor assigned applications from submission to completion within the required timeline.
- Handle confidential student information with tact, discretion and in compliance with FERPA, College, State, and Federal regulations.
- Participate in the development of communication materials to high school counselors, teachers, prospects, parents of prospects and other specialty groups as necessary.
- To perform other duties as assigned and additional related tasks in support of the College’s mission and goals.
- Evening hours are required for this position and additional weekend work may also be required.
Position can be remote/virtual with preference given to candidates in Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. Candidates will be required to come to campus in-person at least twice a month. The position required extensive travel.
