Overview YouthBuild Boston is a community-based education and workforce development program dedicated to empowering young adults, ages 16–24, who have faced barriers to traditional education or employment. The program provides students with opportunities to earn a high school diploma or equivalent while gaining hands-on experience in construction, leadership, and community service. YouthBuild Boston emphasizes holistic support, including academic instruction, career development, and personal growth, preparing participants for post-secondary education, careers, and long-term success. The VISTA will strengthen YouthBuild’s career readiness by designing a year-round framework, creating assessment tools, and building a Career Exploration Toolkit. They will conduct labor market research, map career pathways, and cultivate employer and education partnerships. The member will coordinate mock interviews, recruit industry volunteers, secure professional attire, and document all processes. Using surveys and feedback, they will evaluate program effectiveness, recommend improvements, and ensure sustainable systems for student career success. Member Duties / Responsibilities Strengthen YouthBuild Boston’s career readiness infrastructure by designing and implementing a comprehensive, year-round career development framework. Conduct labor market research, map career pathways, develop assessment tools, and create a Career Exploration Toolkit. Cultivate employer and educational partnerships, coordinate mock interviews, recruit industry volunteers, and secure professional attire for students. Design curricula on soft skills, resume writing, and interview preparation, while documenting processes and evaluating program effectiveness. Using surveys and feedback tools, recommend improvements and establish sustainable systems to ensure students are prepared for employment or post-secondary pathways.
